FACES OF LONDON

London calling! In October 2019 I spend four days in this fascinating city, participating in a Magnum workshop with the iconic street photographer Bruce Gildon. To sharpen one’s eye and photography skills under his instruction was an uniquely intense experience. My task was to take front facing portraits - larger headshots, of sorts. The shooting time was about two hours in the afternoon. I am not shy and have no problem asking random strangers for permission to take their photograph, but on this day it turned out that the most interesting subjects often declined to be photographed. So I also added candid shots in a more typical street photography sense. I remember those days being challenging in many ways proving once again that everybody you meet will teach you something, if you are willing and open to learn.

All pictures in this series are taken with a Leica Q2 which was perfect for the task at hand.
